Dustin Johnson

He/Him/His

MFT Intern

As a U.S. Army veteran and professional ballroom dance instructor with over a decade of experience working with couples in these settings, I bring real-life insight and a collaborative style to therapy. I especially enjoy helping couples, veterans, and new parents. I am currently a Marriage and Family Therapy Intern in the Capella University Marriage and Family Therapist program (expected graduation 2027) .

I create a warm space where you can feel heard, where humor is welcome, and where we can use movement, creative expression, or play-based approaches when words alone don’t feel enough. I work with relationship struggles such as infidelity recovery, parenting disagreements, intimacy issues, attachment difficulties, and life changes like divorce or remarriage. My approach draws from narrative therapy, experiential methods, and Gottman training.

As a MFT intern, I’m able to offer low-cost therapy sessions while being closely supervised by a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I’m LGBTQ+ affirming and believe therapy should feel supportive, authentic, honest, and sometimes light-hearted. I offer in-person sessions in our downtown Grand Rapids office as well as virtual appointments. Beyond the therapy room, I am dedicated to helping veterans navigate military transitions, supporting parents through life's shifts, and guiding anyone seeking more harmony in their connections. If you’re ready to strengthen your foundation, reach out today to schedule an appointment.
